What is Music Supervision? Music Supervision is the art of not only finding the ideal piece of music for your visuals or other productions, but also the technical skill of negotiating usage licenses with the relevant copyright holders such as music publishing companies, artists and record labels. Mama Dance ! Music Solutions has over 14 years experience in finding, creating and placing music in TV and radio ads, films, TV shows, value-add promotional CDs and DVDs, magazine covermounts, corporate videos, on-hold telephone systems, presentations, corporate songs and websites. Depending on your type of project, budget and usage rights required, we would recommend the licensing of either well-known commercial tracks or possibly tracks from music libraries. Alternatively, should the right track not exist, we would suggest original music composition as the best way to go.

We have a search database of over 90 000 (and growing!) South African and African tracks.  

We also use a network of over 300 music specialists in the South African and international music industry to help us find the perfect music for you.

If you send us a brief, storyboard or visual we will search for various tracks that suit your budget. We email you MP3s or send you an audio CDR. Alternatively, you can pop by our studios or we can pop by your offices and do the search with you.

After we have found that perfect track for you, we will handle all the complicated and time consuming clearance and licensing procedures – so that you don’t have to !

We have three recording and composition studios, as well as associations with top composers locally and internationally. Depending on the brief, we will organise the perfect composer for your project.

We also have a large database and very good relationships with South Africa's top session musicians and performing artists who are guaranteed to make your productions sound extra special!

Music libraries are a very convenient and cost-effective source of music. They contain music that is specially created for commercial use on a NON-exclusive basis.

Library music has set rates for various different usage options which makes budgeting and licensing a breeze!

The Mama Dance! Music Library is one of the largest and most popular 100% South African music libraries in the world. It covers genres from original boeremusiek to African hip-hop and kwaito, African traditional to Afro electronica, reggae, dub, ambient and trance. All tracks are  produced by South African composers who have worked with artists such as Freshly Ground, Kalahari Surfers, TKZee, Jerusha, Busi Mhlongo, etc.

We also represent the amazing Decibal Collective library in South Africa as well as searching other huge libraries such as Sonoton and Focus for our clients.

Because our libraries are NORM affiliated, they can be used under blanket license agreements for SABC, MNet and e.tv programming.
